Hooker, Christopher Scott "Chris" (Cleveland)

Christopher Scott “Chris” Hooker, 48, of Cleveland, TN, died on Friday morning, October 17, 2014.

Chris was born in Dalton, GA on May 28, 1966 a son of Dr. Gene & Bessie Hooker.  Chris spent the majority of his life serving the Lord thru mission work. He and wife had served with the Rock of Ages Ministry since 1992. This ministry was his passion. Chris was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Marine Corp after faithfully serving his county. During his service for our country, he served in both Desert Shield and also in Desert Storm as well as being a recruiter for the US Marine Corp. Prior to his paralysis following an automobile accident he was a gifted carpenter and loved working with wood. 

Chris is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 29 years, Juanita Grizzle Hooker; parents, Dr. Gene & Bessie Hooker; one son and daughter-law, Christopher Shane & Bridgett Cheyenne Hooker; one brother, Anthony Eugene Hooker (Angela) of Maysville, GA; in-laws, Donald & Merle Grizzle of Clarksville, GA; and numerous other extended family members, mission family, friends and other special friends. 

A celebration of his life is planned for Sunday, October 19 at 5 p.m. at the Savannah Bay Baptist Church located at 8018 Ooltewah Georgetown Road in Ooltewah, TN with Dr. Gene Hooker, Pastor Donald Grizzle and Dr. Dewayne Jowers officiating. 

The Interment and committal service will take place on Tuesday, October 21 at 1:30 p.m. in the Chattanooga National Cemetery and will conclude with full military honors. 

The family will receive friends at the church from 2-5 p.m. 

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to the Rock of Ages Ministries, P. O. Box 2308, Cleveland, TN 37320-2308 in Chris’s memory.

Companion Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
