Mary Jane Plott
Mary Jane Plott, 80, of Ooltewah, died on Friday, November 21, 2014.
A lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area, she was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church in Ooltewah and was a retired Secretary from State Farm Insurance. She was a graduate of City School, class of 1952, where she was a majorette. During her life she wrote several songs and played piano at her church as well as danced and sang in several plays as a teenager. She and her husband James were election poll workers in the Ooltewah #1 precinct for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Plott and a sister, Terri Talley.
She is survived by her children, Dan (Kathy) Brown, Ky., Julie (John) Hennessey, Ky., David Brown, Texas, Cathe Brown and Kevin Kearns, both of Maine and Shawn (Derrick) Greer, Ringgold; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Becky (John) Brammer; brother, Fred C. (Nancy) Ballard both of Chattanooga; aunt, Jessie “Buddie” Clinton, Signal Mountain; several cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26, in the Valley View Chapel with the Reverend Richard Jones and the Reverend Ken Wolfe officiating. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 25, at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
