Edwin Dale Clayton
Edwin Dale Clayton, 72, of Ooltewah, died on Friday, April 4, 2014.
Ed was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and was an active member of Lupton Drive Baptist Church where he served as deacon and assistant teacher in the men’s fellowship class. He was a former member of Harmony Baptist Church.
Ed was a counselor for Lane Funeral Home for many years and was associated with many other funeral homes in the Chattanooga area. Ed had worked also with National Life & Accident Insurance Company and U.S. Pipe, both for 10 years of service.
He was a son of the late Yancy and Georgia Stephens Clayton and was also preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Clayton and two sisters, Dorothel Agee and Judy Garner.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Clayton, two sons, Michael (Michelle) Clayton, Ooltewah; Christopher Clayton, Chattanooga; daughter, Kimberly Clayton, Ooltewah; two brothers, Jimmy (Nell) Clayton, Trenton; Charles (Virginia) Clayton, East Ridge; sister, Jean Coffman, Soddy Daisy; three grandchildren, Savannah Shepherd, Allison Clayton, and Jacob Clayton, numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 7, at Lupton Drive Baptist Church with Reverend Randy Bell and Reverend Roger DeHart officiating. Interment will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
The family will receive friends from 1–8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home and from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Monday at Lupton Drive Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mission Fund at Lupton Drive Baptist Church.
