Woodland HS Wins 35th McCallie Wrestling Invitational

Highlighted by six medalists, including one champion, Woodland High School (Cartersville, Ga.) won the 35th annual McCallie Invitational Wrestling Tournament Saturday with 200.5 points, while Oak Mountain (Ala.) was second with 154.5 points.

Woodland had four in the finals as freshman Kyle Gollhofer defeated Trevor Burdick (Sonoraville HS), 8-3 for the 113 pound title.

Union Grove ((Ga.) was third with 154 points and two champions, McCallie was fourth (151.5 pts) with one champion and Lambert (Ga.) was fifth (150 pts) in the 27-team field.

“We had good individual efforts and our guys stepped up and won matches when we needed them to,” said Woodland coach and former UTC wrestler Adrian Tramutola.

Woodland was 5A state runner-up in 2015 and placed fourth at McCallie in 2014.
