CAHA Program on Howard High School January 11

The Chattanooga Area Historical Association and the Local History and Genealogy Department of the Public Library invite all to a special program on Monday, January 11, at 6pm at the downtown Public Library at 1001 Broad Street.

George Ricks, Sr., is the District 4 representative on the Hamilton County Board of Education and will discuss the impact and legacy of Howard High School. Howard was the first free public school, black or white, established in Hamilton County.

George Ricks, Sr., has served on the Hamilton County Board of Education since 2008. Mr. Ricks has also served on the Chattanooga African American Museum Board (1992-2007), the Public Education Foundation Board (2000-2008), and the National Urban League Education/Parent Council (1991-1996).
