Harmony And G.R.I.T.S. Part Of Heritage School Program On Saturday

  • Monday, March 16, 2015
On Saturday from noon-2 p.m. the McMinn County Living Heritage Museum presents Harmony and G.R.I.T.S. (Girls/Gents Raised In the South) as part of the Heritage School Program.

Since 2008 a group of individuals have gathered weekly to play British Isles hymns and folk songs on porches that echoed through the Appalachians.  Today, Harmony & G.R.I.T.S. serves the community by offering their services to various locations such as the Assisted Living residents, church groups, Christmas programs, festivals, and heritage events.
The musical instruments include the sounds of various dulcimers, auto harp and two banjo players.

"Guests will enjoy the entertainment as well as the educational experience of learning the history of the music and the instruments," organizers said.

All Heritage School events are free for museum members. There is a $5 charge for non-members which includes a tour of the museum.

Annual membership to the museum is $10 (students); $15 (seniors); $25 (adults); or $45 (family).
