A home on School Street was damaged early Sunday morning by fire.

Chattanooga firefighters, along with Tri-Community firefighters, were dispatched to 5421 School Street on a residential structure fire around 5:20 a.m.

Fire companies arrived and found heavy smoke and fire at the front of the residence. Battalion Chief Jeff Eldridge said firefighters made an aggressive attack and quickly extinguished the flames. Most of the fire damage was contained to the front area of the structure. The loss estimate was $70,000.

The residents were not home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. There are two dogs that are being searched for at this time.

Chattanooga Police, the Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department, and Hamilton County EMS assisted at the scene.

Captain Anthony Moore with the Fire Investigation Division said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
