2 People Identified Who Died When Car Caught On Fire After Early Morning Wreck On Brainerd Road; Speed Ruled A Factor In Accident

Two people died on Sunday morning when a vehicle caught on fire on Brainerd Road and the occupants were trapped inside.

The driver was identified as Antoniece Padgett, 22.

The passenger was identified as Antonio Marbury, 26.

Speed was listed as a factor in the accident.

Chattanooga Police responded to 5506 Brainerd Road at 4:31 a.m. on the report of a single vehicle crash. There police located a vehicle on fire with two people inside. Police began rescue efforts while Fire and EMS were en route.

The vehicle was traveling east on Brainerd Road.

The vehicle struck a sign on the south side of the road.

The vehicle's engine compartment caught on fire as a result of the crash.

Both occupants succumbed to the injuries sustained in the accident.

All eastbound lanes near the wreck scene were initially closed for the investigation of the crash.

Chattanooga Police ask anyone with information regarding this incident to call 423-698-2525. The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released when available.
