Clara Lee Kimble, 83, died on January 2, 2016 at a local hospital.  

She was a member of Greater Friendship Primitive Baptist Church. She worked at Town and Country/Longhorn Restaurant for 32 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Means and Minnie Lee Fulghum; husband, Leon Kimble; son, LeBron Merriwether; brothers, Willie Edward Means and Charlie Clay Means.

Survivors include her children, James (Lloyd) Merriwether, C. M. Merriwether, Gloria (Eddie) Bell, Willie (Debbie) Kimble, all of Chattanooga, TN; Latricia Wells of Chester, VA; fifteen grandchildren, forty-three great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren; sister, Laura K. Smith, Eutaw, AL; brother, Howard B. Means, Alexander City, AL; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

The funeral service will be held at noon on Friday, Jan. 8, at Greater Friendship Primitive Baptist Church, at 1208 Glenwood Drive, with Elder James Penny officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

The body will lie in state after noon on Thursday, and the family will receive friends from 6–7 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
