Train Derails Between 23rd Street And Central Avenue

Sections of a train derailed in the yards near 23rd Street and Central Avenue early Wednesday morning.

The Chattanooga Fire Department responded to the CSX derailment at 4:45 a.m.

Emergency personnel discovered 10 railcars of a 131-car train had left the tracks with two of those cars on their side.

The derailment only affected rail yard traffic. No city streets were affected.

No injuries were reported and there are no hazards to the community, officials said.

The reason for the derailment is still being investigated by railroad officials.
