Patricia “Patti” Doane Wade Hardie, 62, died on June 10, 2016 after an intense battle with cancer.

Born to Ralph and Anne Doane in Stuttgart, Germany, she traveled often until they finally settled in Chattanooga. She went to Central High School, graduating in 1972, then on to Erlanger’s Nursing School, graduating with dear friends. She worked in a multitude of nursing positions over the years and made so many friends just being herself. She was currently working for Emory in Atlanta, doing cancer research at the VA Hospital there. She spent most of her adult life in Chattanooga, only moving to Atlanta five years ago to be near her daughter and grandchildren. She loved her grandchildren very much and tried to make sure they were exposed to many experiences. She lived her life trying to “leave people better than when she found them”.

Patti was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Wade, and her second husband, JJ Hardie, as well as her parents, Ralph and Anne Doane.

Survivors include her children, Stephanie (Ron) Ellis and Matthew (Ruthie) Wade, her seven grandchildren, Destini (Sean) O’Donovan, Dustin Ellis, Daniel Ellis, Madison Ellis, Marley Wade, Maven Ellis, and Delaney Ellis, as well as three great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Sani Roberson, her niece Teri Roberson Schweitzer, nephew Tony Roberson, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, great nieces and nephews.

There will be a memorial service held at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel on Saturday, July 16, at 4 p.m.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
