Many Organizations Work Together To Assist Homeless Veterans In Chattanooga

  • Wednesday, October 31, 2018

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4848 on Amnicola Highway co-sponsored a clothing and household items collection for the months of August and September with Stacy Kehoe.   While holding the items at their post, Stacy Kehoe worked through the city of Chattanooga’s Homeless Task Force to store the items at their warehouse on East Main Street.

The items were delivered on Tuesday by members of the VFW Post 4848. William Robinson is the Post Commander and his team drove five pickup trucks to the warehouse.  Six pallets later, all the items were situated in the warehouse.

After the drop off, Ms. Kehoe and Danny Ayala from the Chattanooga Furniture Bank drove over to the Goodwill Outlet store on Dodds Avenue where they were able to acquire clothes racks and hangers to organize the clothing at the warehouse.

Ms. Kehoe said, "We like to thank Andy Eaton from Goodwill for the clothing racks and hangers. This will greatly help with the organization of the clothes.

"This was truly a collaboration between the city of Chattanooga's Homeless Task Force, the Chattanooga Furniture Bank, the Veteran Center, Goodwill, VFW Post 4848, and many private citizens who donated items as well. We are all striving to achieve the same goal; to assist our Homeless Veterans in a time of need."

For future donations, please contact Ms. Kehoe at 902-0309. Only adult men’s and women’s clothing plus household items in great condition.
