U.S. Army Veteran Retired From EPB After 37 Years

Charles Austin Howell, 75, a resident of Chattanooga, passed away on November 4, 2018.

A veteran of the U.S. Army and National Guard Charlie was retired from EPB after 37 years of service.  He also enjoyed woodworking and fishing.

Mr. Howell was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church and loved southern gospel music.

He was born on March 1, 1943, to the late Mary Sue and Clinton Austin Howell.

Survivors include his loving wife, Jean Floyd Howell; daughter, Catherine Anne “Kay” Johnson (Mark); sons, Clay Austin Howell (Michelle) and Clint Austin Howell; step-sons, Hayes P. Ledford, Brad Ledford and Miles Ledford (Emily); grandchildren, Cael Austin Howell, Calista Howell and Johnny Howell; step-grandchildren, Sydney and Charlotte Ledford, Mallory and Addison Ledford and many cousins throughout Tennessee.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7, in the chapel of Hamilton Funeral Home with Dr. Gregg Hauss officiating.

His family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the funeral home prior to the service.
