Tyrone Mathis
Tyrone Mathis, 79, of Chattanooga, passed away on Monday, December 10, 2018, in the Hospice Care Center.
He was born in Lumpkin, Ga. He served in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Mathis and Arthur Louise Munn; brothers, Bobby Jones and Terry Carey; sister, Joyce Carey. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, ‘SOPHIA’; sons, Edward (Brenda) Mathis, Tyrone (Rachel) Mathis; daughters, Marie Mathis Marbury, Sharon Mathis Gray, Margaret Mathis, Angela (Anthony) Meadows, Brenda (Joe) Cuff, Glenda Mathis, all of Chattanooga, and Vanessa (Perry) Beavers of Kingston, Ga.; sisters, Mary Ann Linder of Nashville, and Barbara Jean Crumsey of Chattanooga; 24 grandchildren; and a host other relatives and friend.
He will lie in state on Wednesday, Dec. 19, after 12:30 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, Dec. 20, at noon in the chapel. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
