Lion Tom Rector takes the reins as the Boynton Lions Club of Ringgold president.
Mr. Rector is a 17-year Lion, formerly serving in the Altamont Lions Club in Illinois as treasurer, tale twister and chair of various fundraising events, including Tootsie Pop Day. He served as tale twister in Boynton.
“We look forward to a great year ahead,” he said. "I want to thank our Past President Dakota McIntire for his service as he transitions to U.G.A. in his studies.”
Mr. Rector lives in Ringgold with his wife Cathy and works as a salesman at Walter Jackson Chevrolet.
The club maintains its efforts to grow our membership, he said.
“We support area youth programs at Heritage High School, the Catoosa County Schools Children’s Fund, and present our annual Thomas Duckett and David Carlock Awards to students at Boynton Elementary School,” he said. “We continue our partnership in patriotism, providing flags for our Boynton students and for veterans at special events.”
Among the projects local Lions undertake, is providing eye examinations and glasses for the needy, eyeglass recycling, assisting when possible with hearing aids and operation and maintenance of the Dailey Hill Cemetery. The group is now receiving donations from friends and relatives of those interred there to assist with the costs of mowing and upkeep.
The club also supports the Georgia Lighthouse Foundation, Georgia Camp for the Blind and Lions International Disaster Relief.
Lions donations may be sent to Boynton Lions Club, c/o BUMC, 4246 Boynton Dr., Ringgold, Ga. 30736.
The Boynton Lions Club meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Boynton United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Membership dues are $21 per quarter.
