Rainey Woods
Rainey Woods, 87, of Chattanooga, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2019, at his residence.
He was born in Newnan, Ga., where he joined Dent Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church at an early age. He later joined Rock Island Missionary Baptist Church alongside his wife. Rainey worked at Ross Meehan for 20+ years and then at U.S. Pipe Foundry from where he retired after 10 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh Wood, Sr. and Corine Wood; five brothers; three sisters; and daughter, Felecia Gaines.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 23 years, Mary Bowman Woods; children, very special loving daughter, Vennesta Renee (Melvin) Bowman, Tara (Kevin) Woods, Carlos (Chanda) Bowman, and Jarvis (Monica) Bowman; 27 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation is from Friday, Oct. 25, from 6-8 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, Oct. 26, at noon in the chapel with Pastor Ronald Cook, Sr. as the eulogist.
Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
