John Gwin, M.D., CWSP, general surgeon and medical director of the CHI Memorial Wound Healing Center, has received certification from the American Board of Wound Management.

Board certification in wound management is achieved only through a rigorous process by the ABWM.  Qualified candidates for certification in wound management are required to achieve a passing score on the examination in order to earn the designation of CWSP (certified wound specialist physician).  Dr. Gwin is the only medical doctor in Chattanooga with this certification.

The CHI Memorial Wound Healing Center provides proven treatment plans designed to save lives and limbs. Problem wounds include diabetes-related ulcers, pressure sores, radiation injuries, bone infections and postoperative infections.  Professional medical staff with specialized wound training offers state-of-the-art topical treatments, adjunctive therapies, noninvasive diagnostic studies, wound debridement, devices for relief of pressure wounds, compression therapy, and physical therapy. The Wound Healing Center also offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy which increases the amount of oxygen in the bloodstream delivered to bodily tissues and enhances the healing process.  Medicare and most insurers cover wound healing services.
