A man who took part in a robbery at the InTown Suites on Lee Highway has been sentenced to 12 years in state prison.

Derrian Hill, 24, appeared before Criminal Court Judge Tom Greenholtz.

Assistant District Attorney Colin Campbell said that on April 27, 2018, a man went to the InTown Suites to have sex with a woman he knew. It was a trick though. A different woman, Miranda Barley, was there, along with Hill, who appeared out of a closet and robbed the victim of his wallet, credit cards and car.

The victim was stripped from the waist down, tied up and shoved in the closet. Fortunately, the victim was able to free himself and he ran about a half mile to the nearby Hampton Inn to call for help.

Prosecutor Campbell said law enforcement officers found Hill and Ms. Barley three weeks later in Tallahassee, Fla., with the victim's personal possessions.

Hill was tried and convicted on Sept. 25 of aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery.

Ms. Barley pled guilty on June 4 to robbery, a Class C felony. She was sentenced to three years, suspended after serving 11 months and 29 days in custody.

After that she was to be on state supervised probation with drug and alcohol testing. Chattanooga Police Department
