Dog Abuse On Signal Mountain - And Response

Sunday, November 17, 2019

I just witnessed a very disturbing and disgusting example of dog abuse on Signal Mountain. It took place in Old Town near Alexian Brothers.

A man who was in his late 30s to early 40s, wearing shorts, with an athletic if not hefty build, was running a chocolate lab or a Chesapeake Bay retriever.

The incident took place in the early morning. The dog stopped for a breather. When he approached his owner, I should have known by the way the dog was cowering that something bad was about to take place. The owner picked the dog by the collar and bodyslammed him to the ground.

I was too shocked to react, and by the time I started to say something the dog and the owner were off running too far ahead of me. If this man acted so inappropriately with a witness behind him, no telling how cruel he is in private.

If anyone who walks in this part of Signal Mountain on a regular basis sees such a man with such a dog, please keep your eyes peeled for this kind of behavior from this man. He should not get away with It without being challenged.

The owner of this dog deserves to be wearing a shock collar, with the dog in control of the settings.

I don't know the dog's owner name but I believe the young man actually looks to be in his mid twenties.

I have found that people that believe people should be wearing shock collars instead of animals have bad theology. God made man in his image, not animals. The dignity that man deserves is not torture or any type of disfigurement. That being said the chocolate lab should be taken away from this man and be given to you. I am sure you would be a better owner.

You will be happy to know the laws will soon be changing to make animal cruelty a federal offence thanks to Rep. Buchanan  "The torture of innocent animals is abhorrent and should be punished to the fullest extent of the law,"

The old Chicago ‘Transit Authority’ song from 1969, “Does anybody really know what time it is, does anybody really care?” - how true those words are today in our society, especially the “does anybody really care” words.
