Celebrate Recovery To Launch At Abba's House In Hixson

Friday, December 27, 2019

Abba’s House will launch Celebrate Recovery, a faith-based outreach recovery ministry that is free and open to everyone in the community on Thursday, Jan. 23, at 6 p.m. Guest speaker, Chris McDaniel, will kick off the first CR Abba’s House. Mr. McDaniel was a founding member of the country band Confederate Railroad before recovering from drugs and dedicating his life to ministry.

About Celebrate Recovery:
Celebrate Recovery is a proven recovery program that provides freedom from hurts, habits, and hang-ups. CR Abba’s House is a safe place to realize God’s healing power as we work through the 12 Steps and 9 Principles of recovery together. The faith-based program that began over 25 years ago at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, Ca. is now a part of 29,000 churches worldwide. Abba’s House CR is founded on the belief that Jesus Christ gives us the grace and the power to realize freedom from underlying issues that cause us to cover pain with destructive or compulsive behaviors, unhealthy relationships, addictions (food, drugs, alcohol, pornography), anger, shame, codependency (addiction to people and control), past abuses and so much more.

CR Abba’s House is for everyone, providing weekly support for anyone with emotional struggles, relational issues, addictions, or any thoughts and behaviors that make life unmanageable or interfere with a joyful life. There is no pre-registration nor sign-ups required. Attendees do not have to be a Christian or a member of Abba’s House.

The evening will include:

6 p.m. Dinner
6:30 p.m. - Large Group – Worship music followed by Chris McDaniel’s personal testimony.
7:30 p.m. - Small Group – Men and women break away to form issue-specific groups. The small groups are run by trained leaders who provide a safe, confidential and positive place to participate with other people looking for healing.
8:30 p.m. - Cafe – Additional time to mingle with others.

The program will continue every Thursday from 6-8:30 p.m. at Abba’s House. Call Abba’s House for more information at 877-6462.

Bob Tamasy: What If We All Could See 20:20 In 2020?

Whenever we have our eyes examined, 20:20 is the standard. Basically, 20:20 vision means we can see clearly at 20 feet what should normally be seen at that distance. If the second number is higher, such as 20:40, it means one’s eyes probably need corrective lenses for being able to see what the average person can see unaided from 20 feet away. With this year being 2020, I’ve ... (click for more)

A Lack Of Civility At The Women's Rally

The behavior of our local radical left women was abusive and uncalled for. The next Woman’s Rally and March should be lessons in common decency and civility towards other women. Interrupting an invited female speaker with displays of yelling and holding up disparaging signs is wrong. The women before me that broke the barriers in male-dominated professions would be embarrassed ... (click for more)

Roy Exum: Three From "Anonymous"

With all of the hoopla over transgendered athletes, you need to know there is a woman out there who is eager to be a ‘trans-species.’ She wants to be a bear. Not only that, but one night a mysterious Marine showed up in a hospital to stand final watch. And, as if that is not enough, a dog just answered a question that we human beings cannot. Almost every day I enjoy my Morning Readings, ... (click for more)
