The dramatic makeover of South Broad Street continues as a large new multi-use building is planned just south of the Raceway.
Architect Tom Bartoo said the building, that will be close to the sidewalk in UGC zoning fashion, will include 27,400 square feet.
It will be designed to look like two separate buildings. One will have 14,000 square feet and the other 11,000 square feet. They will be connected by an 1,800-square-foot commons area.
The building, that is just south of 26th Street, will include commercial as well as residential units.
South Broad is getting a new Publix as the venerable Mt. Vernon Restaurant and Pizza Hut are torn down.
A large new veterinary clinic is being built at the old Long John Silvers.
An old motel next to 33rd Street will be torn down to make way for a $75 million residential project going back across Williams Street.
The latest endeavor was approved on Monday afternoon by the Planning Commission.
