Allen Cole Dickerson has been charged in a fiery crash in the 5900 block of Highway 58 that claimed the life of a Westview Elementary School teacher.

Dickerson, 22, of 6913 Lystra Road, Harrison, was charged with vehicular homicide by drugs and/or alcohol and DUI.

Karen Saxton, 64, was dead at the scene in the wreck last Sept. 22. She was a teacher for 42 years and spent the past 24 years working at Westview Elementary. Earlier she served as a missionary in India

Police said Ms. Saxton was entering Highway 58 from Congress Lane when she was struck by a vehicle driven by Dickerson. The front of the Dickerson vehicle struck the driver side of the Saxton vehicle. Both vehicles rotated around, with the Saxton car coming to a rest in the southbound lane, and the Dickerson vehicle in the northbound lane.
