In response to the Youth Climate Change activists around the world who are skipping school Friday to take a stand for climate action, vegan and animal rights activist and yoga instructor Missy Crutchfield is offering a $5 community yoga class Friday at 10 a.m. at Thrive Yoga and Wellness in East Brainerd (7633 East Brainerd Road, Suite 117) and a free community yoga class with Yoga on Union in Highland Park's Tatum Park on Saturday at 10 a.m. to help raise local awareness of this global movement for change.
"I am so inspired by the young people around the world who are speaking out for climate justice," Ms. Crutchfield said. "They are right. If we kill the planet, all other arguments are a moot point.
"So in celebrating the amazing student activism happening for our planet, I would like to donate my Friday 10 a.m. yoga class today at Thrive Yoga and Wellness which always begins with a meditation for our world and our planet. It's an All Levels Flow. I'll pay the difference in the drop-in fee for anyone who wants to take today for just $5.
"I'll also offer a free community yoga class in Tatum Park in coordination with our Yoga On Union movement on Saturday at 10 a.m.
"Let's send lots of love and light to the planet and the courageous students who are taking a stand."
