Jo Ann Johnson, 72, of Chattanooga, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2019, at her residence. 

She graduated from Orange Grove in 1984. Jo Ann was a member of Greater New Home Missionary Baptist Church. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Mozella Johnson; sisters, Ruth “Jackie” Scott, Barbara Jean Mitchell; aunts, Ida Benford and Lillie Sims; uncle, Gibson Sims. 

Survivors include her sisters, Joyce Ann (Robert) Johnson of Georgia, Sandra Kay Bush of Jacksonville, FL, and Charlotte Lingo of Chattanooga; brothers, Richard “Rickey” (Dorothy) Johnson of Austin, TX and Alonzo Johnson of Chattanooga; uncles, Ned Sims, Waymen Sims, and James Sims; aunts, Rose Lee Sims, Julie Pettyjohn, Ernestine Terrell Sims, Ophella Terrell Sims, Shirley Ann Carter Sims, Mae Frances Blount Sims, and Fredine Jordan Sims, all of Chattanooga; special nephews, Leonard Coleman, Jr. and Len’Torry Coleman; special nieces, Lucille H. Johnson, Aliyah Coleman and Alyssia Coleman; brother-in-law, Leonard Coleman, Sr. of Chattanooga; several other nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. 

She will lie in state on Friday, April 12, after 1 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. 

Funeral services will be on Saturday, April 13, at 2 p.m. at Greater New Home Missionary Baptist Church with Elder G.M. Spotts as the eulogist. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.
