Mocs Soccer Win Preseason Matchup 1-0 At Belmont

The Chattanooga women’s soccer team came away with a 1-0 victory over Belmont Friday night at E.S. Rose Park in Nashville in a preseason matchup for the two teams.

In the 35th minute, midfielder Hollie Massey took a pass from Maddie Burman down the left side and broke free. Belmont keeper Lily Herman came out of the box to add defensive pressure, but Massey was able to get around her and sent her shot low into the box for the lone score of the match.

All available were able to get into the game including all three keepers.

On offense UTC outshot the Bruins 9-7 with a 5-3 shots on goal advantage.
Junior Chloe Arnold had a game-high four shots with three on goal. Her goal early in the match was called back for an offsides offense. Massey took two shots with both on goal including her first half goal. Transfer Osa Iyare had two shots for the Mocs and AK Anderson tallied one in her collegiate debut.

Sophomore Ashton Shields started in goal for the Mocs and recorded two saves in just over 32 minutes. Molli Miller relieved her and started the second half as well to get 28:26 minutes in the net. Transfer Abbey Saddler came in for the final third of the match and made a diving save to keep Belmont scoreless.

Five Belmont players took shots with three on goal and keeper Lily Herman made all four saves for the Bruins while playing nearly 75 minutes.
 
In the first half, Belmont took all six of their corner kicks but it was all Chattanooga in the second half with five for the game.

The Mocs will travel to Cookeville, Tenn., Sunday evening for their final preseason match against Tennessee Tech. Kick off is slated for 7:00 p.m.
