The Chattanooga Mocs men’s basketball team works toward the future while considering its stellar past this week. Saturday’s matchup with Western Carolina is reunion weekend with this year’s model welcoming back the legends who built the most dominant program in the SoCon over the past 40+ seasons.
All members of the Mocs hoops family are invited back to campus from those who toiled in Maclellan Gym to the modern squads who made the Roundhouse roar. There are several events planned with receptions, time with the current team and a brunch before the contest.
The basketball alums will join the hospitality party prior to the game as well.
Members of the Mocs Club at the Gold Mocs level and higher get the opportunity reminisce with the group. There is also an on-court recognition planned for the reunion attendees.
The Chattanooga program boasts an impressive resume…
1997 NCAA Division I Sweet 16
11 NCAA Division I Tournament Appearances
30 Southern Conference Championships: 11 Regular Season, 11 Tournament & 8 Division
1977 NCAA Division II National Champions & 1976 Runners-Up
In just 43 seasons in the SoCon, the 30 titles are far and away the most over that span. In fact, all-time, they rank second only to Davidson’s 35 over a 78-year shelf life.
The Mocs remain on the road Wednesday at Samford before coming back to the Roundhouse on Saturday. Tipoff is at 2 p.m., against the Catamounts. Tickets are available at the link above on GoMocs.com or consider the new “All You Can Eat” option.
