U.S. Navy Veteran Was Restaurant Manager For Many Years

Jamey Scott Payne, 50, of East Brainerd, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2020, in a  local health care center.

 

Born in Chattanooga, Jamey graduated from Central High School in 1988 later moving to Panama City, FL where he received an associate’s degree from Gulf Coast State College.

 

James was an avid sports enthusiast, especially enjoying baseball.  He was a huge TN Vols fan.

Jamey was a veteran of the US Navy serving in the Gulf War.

 

He served as a restaurant manager for many years at Bonanza Steakhouse, O’Charley’s at Hamilton Place and Cracker Barrel in Tiftonia as well as Nissan of Cleveland.

 

He was preceded in death last year by his brother, Brad Payne.

 

Survivors are his mother, Barbara Payne;  sister, Ondie Payne (Dennis Benedict); loving partner, caregiver and best friend, Kathy Adkins, all of Chattanooga;  two daughters, Haley McCoy, Auburn, Ga. and Kristen West, Atlanta; and four grandchildren, Tripp, Tate, Madeline, and Little Mac.

 

Due to the current medical crisis, the family will have a small gathering in the funeral home chapel Tuesday, March 24, at noon with Reverend Keith McLeod officiating and Keith Ledford speaking. 

 

A private burial will be held at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
