Arbor Day Celebration Will Be Held At Southside Community Park Saturday

The Chattanooga Tree Commission, numerous neighborhood associations and Chattanooga residents will celebrate Arbor Day with the ceremonial planting of several shade trees at the Southside Community Park, 3501 Central Ave., on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Assisting in the planting and celebration will be officials from the City of Chattanooga. 

These are the first of 30 trees that are being installed to enhance the livability of the Southside Community Park located in Chattanooga’s southside.

A representative from the Tennessee Division of Forestry will certify Chattanooga as a Tree City community for the 30th consecutive year.

The public is invited to attend this free event.

Tree planting will begin at 8:30 a.m. Anyone can participate in the Saturday planting event. All necessary tools and trees will be provided. 

Free food (for the first 150 attendees), activities for all ages and music will also be provided. 

The event will take place rain or shine.
