Ben Owens
Bennett “Ben” E. Owens, 90, transitioned from his earthly home to eternity with his Savior on Friday, May 29, 2020.
Ben was a Christian, family man, and 24-year veteran of both the Army and the Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Originally from Michigan, Ben lived all over the world, having moved several times throughout his deployment. After retiring from military service, Ben and his family settled in Cleveland, where he worked as an HVAC serviceman for several years. Ben also spent his time devoted to many volunteer projects, including giving of his time and talents to the leadership and congregation of East Side Church of Christ as well as using his skills in a wood shop he owned.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William Bennett Owens and Zadia J. Jenkins Owens.
Ben leaves behind a legacy of love and faithfulness to Pat, his wife of 64 years, as well as his four children, Janet, Michael, Bill (Darlene), and Mark (Stacey). He also leaves behind a sister, Thelma Tubert; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be Monday, June 1, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Mike Fox and Bill Maynard officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Wesley Davis, Bradley Davis, Shane Sneed, Tracey Sneed, Eddie Carson, Kenneth Flowers, and Jordan Prichett are serving as pallbearers. A white dove release and playing of bagpipes will conclude the service.
His family will receive friends, Sunday, May 31, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
