Victory for Brooks at Fort Payne
In Ohio the "O-Show" keeps a rollin' Saturday celebrating the 4th of July with win #10 of the 2020 Dirt Late Model season. The Newport, Tn., racer Jimmy Owens (#20) pocketed another $12,000 extending his Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model series points lead at Portsmouth Raceway Park. The "Ramirez Motorsports, Tommy Pope Construction, Red Line Oil" sponsored Vic Hill powered Rocket racer won over Georgian Jonathan Davenport, the series' three-time and defending champion.
In Wisconsin, Brandon Sheppard (#1) Rocket, house car driver of New Berlin, Illinois, pocketed the weekend's second consecutive $20,000-to-Win event Saturday in front of the DIRTVision and CBS Sports Network cameras.
Sheppard raced the lead away from Louisiana's Cade Dillard on lap two and that was all she wrote, as the "Valvolive, Seubert Calf Ranches" sponsored racer drove to his sixth World of Outlaws Late Model series victory of the season. Tennessean Scott Bloomquist was sixth overall and Friday's $20,000 winner, Ashton Winger of Georgia, was tenth.
At Fort Payne Motor Speedway in Alabama, Arva Lee "Booger" Brooks (#48) of Chattanooga raced to the Red Clay 602/Sportsman series win worth $1,000 Saturday night. In the 13th running of the "Firecracker 50" Super Late Model race Joe Noojin of Boaz picking up the $4,000 victory.
In Sweetwater, Michael Courtney (# C11) of Knoxville backed up his Friday night Kajun Mini Stock Association feature win with yet another at I-75 Raceway Saturday. Both Tennessee wins earned Courtney a hefty $2,000 payday in the Pony division series.
Tyler Millwood won Dixie Speedway's SLM special $3,000 race Saturday outside of Atlanta.
