Jimmy Owens of Newport, Tn. continued his winning ways Wednesday night at Florence Speedway as the Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model series opens up a four race weekend at the 1/3 mile powerhouse dirt track.
Owens piloting his # 20 Ramirez Motorsports "Reece Monument, Boomtest Well Service, Red Line Oil, Tommy Pope Construction, Redbone Fishing and Rental, Power Rig, General Tire" turned back the thwarts of Georgian Shane Clanton (# 25) for the $12,000 payday.
Thursday's event is the North/South Shootout paying $10,000 to win, leading into Friday and Saturday night's 38th annual $50,000 North/South 100.
Hudson O'Neal debuted a new race team in fifth while vanquished World of Outlaws Late Model racer (for a year) Tyler Erb was sixth with Tennessean's Mike Marlar and Scott Bloomquist 7th and 8th overall. Chickamauga's Dale McDowell, a former North/South 100 winner, was last Wednesday among the 25 starters.
