Hamilton County Emergency Medical Service announces the promotion of A-Shift Captain Billy Burnette to assistant chief of Hamilton County Emergency Medical Services. Asst. Chief Burnette began his career with Emergency Medical Services in 1993 as a part-time emergency medical technician and was licensed as a paramedic in 1994. He was named lieutenant with the Hamilton County service in 2001, achieved the rank of captain in 2018, and has now been promoted as one of four assistant chiefs for HCEMS.
HCEMS Director Ken Wilkerson said, “As we move forward to improving our services for the citizens in our area, I look forward to working with Asst. Chief Burnette to lead in the development and operation of a fourth shift of HCEMS.
He has a proven record as a leader in all areas of HCEMS that I am sure will be an asset as we explore and develop new opportunities that focus on the excellent emergency medical care that we have continued to provide for over 32 years.”
As assistant chief, he will be responsible for the development and daily operations of an additional shift within the service. Along with the other three assistant chiefs, this position also functions as the leader of the service in the absence of the director and deputy director of HCEMS. HCEMS operates as the 911 provider for Hamilton County 24 hours a day, with 15 advanced life support ambulances and 130 paramedics and advanced EMTs.
