The state’s top teams travelled to Hendersonville’s Sanders Ferry Park (new site of the TSSAA State Championships) on a hot Friday afternoon. Baylor School’s Mae Mae Powe took top honors at the Coleman Midgett Invitational—winning the entire race in a time of 20:15–but Signal Mountain High School edged the Lady Raiders for the team championship by a score of 29-33.
Led by Sophia Gibby, Signal Mountain was also paced by Kelsey Thompson, Gracen Glover, Charlotte Harrison, and Hannah Laramore. Baylor’s top five included Powe, Helen Webb, Janie Pippenger, Rosa Anderson-Barrera, and Ellie Myers.
