East Ridge Police Officers are wearing a new badge.
The new badges, designed by members of the department were delivered last week and distributed to the officers. All officers, supervisors and reserves will be wearing the same badge, unlike in the past, when different ranks and assignments had different badges.
The old “generic” badges were declared surplus by the City Council at the Sept. 10 meeting and officers are allowed to ‘purchase’ their old badge by making a donation to a local charity.
