The Chattanooga Mocs women’s golf team is tied for fourth after 36 holes of the Hoover Invitational. The ladies made their way around Hoover Country with a morning 301 before coming back with 294 in the afternoon. Their 595 is tied with host UAB.
Freshmen led the way on this day. Daphne Van Son paced the morning grouping with 73. It was supported by Betriz Barrios at 75, Dorota Zalewska shooting 76 and Rachel Thompson’s 77.
Thompson had the low afternoon tally of 2-under 70.
That was one better than Barrios and five clear of Esme Hamilton’s 75. Van Son and Zalewska each carded 78.
Barrios leads the quintet overall at 146 which is tied for seventh. Thompson is one behind her at 147, tied for 12th. Jefimija Dordevic is playing as an individual shooting 157 with her opening 75 as her low score.
Western Kentucky leads overall at 582 (+6). Indianapolis second with 587 followed by Southern Illinois’ 592, just ahead of the Mocs and Blazers. Emilyee McGiles (SIU) and Pilar Echeverria (Indy) are tied atop the player leaderboard at 1-under 143. The 10-team field plays a final 18 Tuesday.
