The Chattanooga Mocs men’s golf team repeated its 2-under 286 on day two of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate. The 572 total sits in 12th, four shots clear of Coastal Carolina.
Gabe Hunter and Connor Nolan led the way at Blackthorn Club. The duo shot 70 to go with Paul Conroy’s 71 and Matt Smith with 75. Braedon Wear had the drop score at 77, while Leon Bader turned in 74 playing as an individual.
The Mocs finished strong. The squad was at 1 over through 12 before birdies by Hunter, Nolan and Smith flipped the score to 2 under.
More birdies came but a few bogeys offset them to end the day at 286.
Hunter paces the group at 3 under, tied overall for 19th. Conroy is two behind him with 143 (-1). Nolan is level with 144 ahead of Wear (147) and Smith (148). Bader is another stroke behind at 149.
Host ETSU is the leader with 552. That’s two ahead of Louisville’s 554. The Bucs Remi Chartier leads individually at 10-under 134.
The final round starts at 8:30 a.m., for the Mocs Tuesday morning. Smith leads off No. 10 with the group paired with Furman and UAB. Wear (8:39), Nolan (8:48), Conroy (8:57) and Hunter (9:06) follow while Bader takes to the tee at 10:09 a.m.
