U.S. Marine Corps Veteran Was Business Owner And Loved The Outdoors

Thomas Joseph Rowan, also known as “Tommy" to friends and family, was 75 when he went to his great reward.

He was a resident of Harrison, where he and his loving wife Nina shared a home for many wonderful years. He succumbed to lung cancer after a short, but brave battle on October 14, 2021, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

He was born on Nov. 1, 1945, in Howard, S.D. to Vincent Joseph Rowan and Loretta Bohr Rowan.
Tommy was married to Nina Ford Rowan on May 27, 1988. Tommy was active duty Marine Corps Force Recon for many years, and also a veteran of the Vietnam War. Tommy was a man of many talents. Owning and operating his own business’s over his lifetime including Tri-state Concrete, Mantles’n More & Tom Rowan Trad Archery. Tommy loved the outdoors.  His favorite activities were hunting, camping, archery and fishing. Tommy had a great sense of humor that was always enjoyed by friends and family.  He was always quick to laugh and point out the positive in something no matter how bad it looked.  Most of all he was always there to offer a hand, willing to help anyone any time.   

He is survived by the love of his life, Nina Rowan, and children, Thomas J. Rowan (Stacey) Denise McMullin (Charlie) Amy Hockenbrocht (Thomas) Matthew Rowan; grandchildren, Nicholas Palazzo, Alexis Palazzo, Jonathan Palazzo, Kaylen McMullin and Nick McMullin; siblings, Ronald "Ronnie” Rowan (Deceased), Maryann Frankle, Sherie Phillips and Marj Seitz. 
 
Graveside services will be held at the Chattanooga National Cemetery on Oct. 26.

Arrangements are by Hamilton Funeral Home & Crematorium. A small reception will be held following his service at their home, at 7128 Condra Dr., Harrison, Tn. 37341.
