The BLVD Project Continues Celebration Of Hispanic Community With Movie Night Saturday

  • Wednesday, October 27, 2021

The BLVD Project is partnering with several community organizations to host a neighborhood movie night at East Lake Park (3400 13th Ave.) on Saturday at 7 p.m.

The event will feature the movie, Coco, in honor of the Hispanic holiday, Dia de los Muertos. The event is free and open to the public. This is an outdoor event and participants should bring a chair or blanket to sit on.

After a successful Taco Tour event in September in which taquerias along the Rossville BLVD corridor saw an increase in businesses, The BLVD Project is continuing the work of celebrating the strong Hispanic presence in the community. During a discussion at the recent EPA facilitated Local Foods Local Places workshop, it was suggested to host more events in the community that celebrate the cultural roots of the Latino community in the 37407 zip code.

The event is sponsored by the East Lake Neighborhood Association, Empower, and Direct Flooring. Direct Flooring is a business located along Rossville BLVD that has been donating a percentage of their weekend sales to the work or renewal along the corridor, during this year.
