The Charles H. Coolidge National Medal of Honor Heritage Center has rescheduled their Bricks of Honor dedication ceremony for 10 a.m. on Saturday. The ceremony will be held inside, upstairs in the Johnston Education Center.
In addition to dedicating the most recent installation of bricks, the ceremony will highlight Pearl Harbor Day, remembering the heroism and sacrifices made that date, and honoring the military service of all the nation’s veterans with keynote speaker Gen. B.B. Bell, U.S. Army (Ret.).
The “Bricks of Honor” campaign began as part of the initial capital campaign for the Heritage Center and continues to provide a wonderful opportunity for the general public to show their support by purchasing a commemorative brick that will be a lasting tribute and honor a veteran, a family member, loved one, or a business.
Opened in February 2020, the National Medal of Honor Heritage Center is located in the heart of where the actions for the first Medals of Honor took place – Chattanooga in 1862-1863. The Heritage Center’s mission focuses on education and protecting and preserving the important heritage of our country’s highest military award for valor. Using award-winning, interactive exhibits and displays, an immersive experience is created telling the amazing stories of ordinary people who showed extraordinary heroism under the most difficult circumstances. Working in collaboration with the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and its Character Education Program, the Heritage Center works to educate the next generation of Americans about the six character traits that embody the Medal of Honor – Patriotism, Citizenship, Courage, Integrity, Sacrifice, and Commitment.
“Bricks of Honor” can be purchased at mohhc.org/donate. The next dedication ceremony will be held on National Medal of Honor Day, March 25.
