The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera will mark Valentine’s Day with two brand new, one-night only programs. Part of the First Horizon Foundation Instrumental Series, Romantic Strings and Romantic Winds will feature CSO ensembles in intimate performances at Brainerd Baptist Church on Thursday and Friday, playing a wide variety of both classical and modern works from across the globe.

The CSO String Quintet will perform Romantic Strings on Thursday at 7 p.m., featuring romantic classical pieces, opera excerpts, and pop hits from Dolly Parton, Diane Warren, and more. “The program will also feature a mini-set of music from and about Tennessee that pays tribute to some of the most prominent musicians in our state and provides a dose of hometown sentimentality,” says Megan Chisom, CSO principal viola.

The CSO Wind Quintet will then celebrate the works of both classical and contemporary Latin American composers with Romantic Winds on Friday at 7 p.m. “The program will include everything  from the jazzy style of Paquito D’Rivera to traditional Mexican melodies by Arturo Marquez,” says Jessica Smithorn, CSO principal oboe. Each of the evening’s pieces will explore diverse musical voices from Cuba, Mexico, and Brazil.

Audiences sizes will be strictly limited to assist with social distancing. Tickets will not be sold at the venue and attendees will be required to wear masks, follow social distancing guidelines, and adhere to the CSO's COVID-19 related concert health and safety guidelines, which can be found at chattanoogasymphony.org/concert-health-safety.

To purchase tickets and get the latest news on upcoming CSO performances or livestreams, visit www.chattanoogasymphony.org or contact the CSO Box Office at 267-8583.
