Share Your Voice In The Riverfront Planning Process

To me, the Riverfront District near the Aquarium is relaxing, it’s a place of serenity and peace. This level of tranquility allows me to clear my mind and prepare to face the challenges that are before me. I take time to look at the ripples of the water because each of them are unique and represent opportunity.  It reduces stress and minimize anxiety, during times like now it allows you to think clearly and come up with solutions to tackle the things you face. I have made several life changing decisions that have paid huge dividends for ideas I thought of sitting on the riverfront.

One of my favorite things to do is people watch. I love watching how others enjoy this beautiful space. They are doing all kinds of activities such as running, bike riding, walking their dogs, playing with their kids, having lunch, and sometime enjoying the festivals that take place. Others are sitting reading books, talking to friends, laughing, sliding down the hills, and just being at peace.

With that, I would really enjoy seeing a more diverse crowd enjoying the Riverfront. The Riverfront is for everyone and we now have the opportunity to help create the vision to make it a place for all!

Some people don’t feel the riverfront is inviting to them and their culture. This is a perfect opportunity for everyone to have their voices heard. River City Company is listening to all of the communities to hear their concerns. I really encourage everyone to let your voice be heard. This is the time to speak up and speak out on what you want.

One of the things I believe we really need is a space for food trucks with outdoor seating. We have several amazing food trucks owned by black entrepreneurs. Providing them and others with a space to showcase their talents will help their business grow and boost our local economy. Not only would our local people get a chance to taste some of the great food, but also our tourists.

I started working with a committee of community leaders on the Riverfront planning a little over a year ago. I believe they are actively listening to those in the community who want to have their voices heard. If you are interested in making an impact and change within our community please participate. They have just opened a survey for you to give feedback at www.oneriverfrontcha.com

Feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns at kenjones@kejones.net. I’ll be happy to ensure your thoughts and ideas are heard.
