Dr. Richard Mason, 74, of Ringgold, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 surrounded by his family.

A native of Fayette County, Al, Dr. Mason was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area.

Dr. Mason retired from the ministry after pastoring Brainerd Hills Baptist Church for 33 years.

He had pastored several churches in Alabama and Tennessee.

He was a graduate of the Alabama Southeastern Bible College, Southeastern Seminary, and the Luther Rice Seminary.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dianne Mason; two sons, Layne (Tammie) Mason, Harrison, TN and Landon (Katie) Mason, Ooltewah; brother, Tommy (Sharon) Mason, Tuscaloosa, AL; five grandchildren, Makayla Mason, Cole Mason, Nash Mason, Molly Kate Mason, and Dillion Williams; beloved in-laws and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, May 24, at noon the Brainerd Hills Baptist Church with Dr. John Barber, Rev. Mike Lofton, and Dr. Dennis Culbreath officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Glenn Meadows, Craig Trent, John Phillips, Brent Eller, Russ Case, Andrew Crawford, Stephen Grace, and Michael Everett serving as active pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons and Support Staff of Brainerd Hills Baptist Church, Ministers of the Hamilton County Baptist Association, Dr. Doug Plumlee, Dr. Tom Goss, Dr. Tony Wilson, Greg Nelson, Mike Splawn, Jeff Pratt, and Anthony Whaley.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Brainerd Hills Baptist church, Beyond Measure Building Fund, 6611 E. Brainerd Rd., Chattanooga, TN 37421.
