Pay Them More, Mr. Mayor

  • Thursday, July 29, 2021

The city of Chattanooga announced today they are suspending curbside recycling due to a shortage of drivers. Why is that? Could it be drivers can make more on unemployment than a city wage? Could it be they’ve found better paying jobs in the private waste collection service?

In the words of the progressives’ dream guy, Joe Biden, “if you can’t find workers, pay them more.”

Will that spark of brilliance solve the problem? If progressives talk the big talk, then they must walk the big walk to prove their theories work. Otherwise we must deduce they don’t believe their own advice and their theories don’t work.

What other municipal departments here are operating below the number of employees budgeted and will be diminished or cut?

So take Joe’s advice, Mr. Mayor, and pay them more.
