It’s football time in Chattanooga. The Southern Conference favorites took to Scrappy Moore Field with energy and purpose. Perfect weather was interrupted by a rain shower late in the morning before wrapping up in sunshine again.

First day of camp…no pads…deciphering much about the team at this point is difficult at best. But the full squad is together again and ready to work toward their goals. There was plenty of coverage from local media.

Here’s a quick sampling of what we heard from the participants:

"It's hard (to evaluate) when you don't have pads on.
The biggest things are assisgnments and alignments." - Coach Rusty Wright

"It was a good day. Just be back out here playing football and compete with the guys. We have a really talented defense and a talented offense as well. Good offensive line, receivers, running backs group and quarterbacks even. It just feels good to be back out there competing" - QB Drayton Arnold

"Our team is full of guys who have been here and been around football for a while. Guys who just know how to approach the game each and every day. It's a blessing, a testimony to our coaches with everything we've been doing at Chattanooga." - DB Jerrell Lawson

It's a veteran squad with high hopes for the season. Home games await hosting Austin Peay, Western Carolina, ETSU, Furman and The Citadel. It opens on Thursday, Sept. 2, with a visit from the Governors. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Season tickets are available by calling (423) 266-MOCS (6627) or online here at GoMocs.com. Fans also can go through the GoMocs app available on Android and Apple IOS devices in their respective app stores.
