Thomas Sexton
Thomas Connie Cornelius Sexton, 74, of Chattanooga, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021, at his residence.
He was born on February 3, 1947, in Chattanooga, to Mr. and Mrs. Shelley Sexton. He attended Howard High School and worked at Eureka Foundry for several years. He was most known for his exceptional culinary skills. He worked as a head chef at some of Chattanooga’s most prestigious restaurants: Town & Country Restaurant, The Loft, and the Read House.
Thomas was preceded in death by his siblings, Evelyn, Doris, Mildred, Gloria, Carolyn, Harold, and Harry.
Survivors include his two children, Willette Sexton and Thomas (Sharma) Sexton, Jr., both living in Chattanooga; adopted son, Antonio (Rosetta) Ivey; seven grandchildren, Thomquisha Sexton, Thamela Sexton, Takema (J.O.) Owens, Tybresha Sexton, Quatae Swoope, Atorsha Brown, and Wenzell Brown, Jr.; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.
Thomas will lie in state on Saturday, Sept. 3, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at noon in the chapel with Bishop J.Z. Valentin as the eulogist.
Burial will be on Tuesday, Sept. 7, at 10 a.m. in Forest Hills Cemetery.
