Cherry Norris Goss, of Soddy Daisy went peacefully to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.

Cherry poured out her love as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her home was a bustling gathering place where everyone wanted to be. Endless meals, prayers, tears, and memories were shared and created in her home and her hospitality made an eternal impact on peoples’ lives. Her devotion to prayer was felt by many and we rejoice knowing she is now continuing her conversations with Jesus face to face.

She often shared fond memories of growing up on her grandparents’ farm in Alabama. Her voice would soften with a gentle smile as she reminisced on her marriage with Al, raising her children, supporting the church as a pastor’s wife for more than 60 years, and loving on all her family. Even in their adulthood, she would always make her kids call to let her know they made it home even if they lived next door.

Although we will dearly miss her gentle hugs, warm smile, and endless love, we look forward to the day when we greet her in heaven and hear her sweet voice again saying: “Well hi there! How are you?”

“I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

"And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

"For I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance, as it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”  Philippians 1:3-6, 9-11, 19-21 ESV.

The family would specifically like to thank Debbie Parker, Kellie (social worker), Megan (nurse practitioner), Ashley (nurse), and all those from Hearth Hospice who went above and beyond to provide loving care and support to Cherry and the family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Goss, Bert Norris (mother), Dwight Norris and Malcom Norris (brothers).
