Dalton State Cross Country Sits At No. 20 In Latest Coaches' Poll

  • Thursday, September 23, 2021

St. Francis (Ill.) remains at No. 1 in the latest Coaches Top 25 Poll. Dalton State drops one spot to #20 despite finishing 3rd and 2nd in two NCAA meets this season.

By The Numbers
This is the 54th NAIA Top 25 Coaches Poll to be released since the women's cross country program has been eligible for national rankings.

They have achieved a national ranking or received votes in 12 of the 53 polls. They achieved their highest ranking in program history the April 14, 2021 poll where they came in at #18.

Poll Methodology
• The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences or groups.
• Each conference is represented by one rater.
• The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second-place and so on through the list.
• The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team's ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appear on.
• Teams that receive only one point in the ballot are not considered "receiving votes."
