Winifred Jean Brown Wheeler, 94, of Chattanooga, died on Tuesday, October 25, 2022.

She was born on March 16, 1928, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to the late Fred E. Brown and Estell Whittenbarger Brown. Winifred was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, an avid supporter of the VFW, the American Legion Auxiliary, Post # 95, and the Women of the Elks, Elks Lodge # 91. She retired from Orange Grove Center for special needs individuals. Winifred was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt.

She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 75 years, Edward Floyd Wheeler, who died on October 7, 2022 and her sister, Clara Lou Bowen.

Survivors include her son, Jeffrey Wheeler; daughter, Sheryl Durham; several grandchildren including Tonya Wheeler and Jeffrey Wheeler, Jr.; several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31, in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Carl Blackburn and Chaplain Robert Cravens officiating. Interment will follow at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
