16 McCallie Seniors Recognized By National Merit Scholarship Program, Including 6 Commended Scholars

Six McCallie School seniors were recognized as Commended Students in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program. They join 10 other students who were recently recognized as National Merit Semifinalists.

The Commended Scholars placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.5 million students nationwide who entered the scholastic competition by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

The students are:
Ali Bhatti – son of Mobin Bhatti and  Asiya Sultan-Bhatti
Scotty Brown – son of Scott and Cherie Brown
Parker Davidson – son of Bill and Susan Davidson
Henry Veys – son of Joe and Emma Veys
Ricky Wang-Polendo – son of Richardo Polendo and Chiung Wang
Morgan Wills – son of Morgan and Heather Wills

The National Merit Semifinalists, who were announced on Sept. 14, are:

Jack Darby, son of Ferrell and Margaret Darby
Ani Harsha, son of Sathyanarayana Harsha and Sunitha Siddaramu
Aviral Jain, son of Vikas Jain and Neetu Gupta
Cotton Snoddy, son of David and Abby Snoddy
Wes Spykerman, son of Mark and Virginia Spykerman
Owen Taggart, son of Andrew and Lori Taggart
Vibin Vellanki, son of Ravi and Lata Vellanki
Rhys Woodard, son of Kenneth and Kelly Woodard
Benjamin Yang, son of Kevin Yang and Lucy Lu
