Judy Campbell Souders, 78, passed away peacefully surrounding by her loving family at her home in Jasper, Tennessee, on Saturday, October 8, 2022.

She was a longtime member of Holly Avenue United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of the University of Chattanooga and held a master’s in education from Trevecca Nazarene College. She taught elementary school for over 30 years, at the Armed Forces School in Zama, Japan, then at South Pittsburg Elementary School.

She was preceded in death by her parents, RD and Myra Campbell, her brothers, Robert “Bob” Campbell, and Gene Campbell (Billie), and her in-laws, Ralph and Betty Jane Souders.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Wallace Souders, daughters Suzanne Lewis (Scott), and Kristie Souders (Mark). Grandsons Drew Ownby (Jennifer) and Michael Lewis. Great-grandsons Cain and Clayton Ownby. Sister-in-law Dody Campbell, In-laws Jim and Jensi Souders. Several nieces and nephews.

Her hobbies included camping and traveling, gardening, fishing, reading, working crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and being outdoors. She will be remembered for her card and letter outreach, her volunteer work, and legendary practical jokes.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 11, from 4-6 p.m. (CST) at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg and on Wednesday, Oct. 12, from 10-10:30 a.m. (CST) at the Holly Avenue Methodist Church in South Pittsburg, Tn. prior to the church funeral service.

Funeral services will be conducted at Holly Avenue United Methodist Church, 413 Holly Ave, South Pittsburg, Tn. 37380 at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12, with the Reverend Dr. Scott Davis officiating.

Pallbearers are Robin Campbell, Brian Campbell, Tom Bettis, Drew Owenby, Jennifer Owenby, and Michael Lewis.

Judy will be laid to rest at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, it was her wish to have donations made to Blue Monarch, PO Box 1207, Monteagle, Tn. 37356 or Holston United Methodist Home for Children, P.O. Box 188, Greeneville, Tn. 37744.

Honorary pallbearers are James and Linda Belcher, Lynn Tuck, June Moss, Mary Ann Atkins, Jennie Campbell and Ida Ballard.
